Bethany Chase |
soprano |
Bethany has always enjoyed a wide variety of music but has kept her singing in the shower until recently. Her mother reports that at age three she was enraptured by Bach, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Hungarian folk music, ABBA, and The Supremes and would sing along in key to all with equal enthusiasm. In elementary and middle school she played clarinet and enjoyed receiving a John Phillip Sousa award, being placed in honor bands, and earning a scholarship to music camp. After too many dormant years to mention, her recent major life transition to singlehood spurred her to give herself the gift of voice lessons with Tiffany Hanson. While not thinking this would lead to anything other than personal pleasure, Bethany has been surprised and delighted to realize that her voice is good for more than just free drinks at karaoke. With Tiffany's encouragement, Bethany joined the Juneau Symphony Chorus for their performances of Carmen in 2008. This further fueled her love of classical music and singing, so when Tiffany insisted she try out for Il Trittico Bethany nervously agreed and has been thrilled with the outcome. She thanks Tiffany Hanson and Todd Hunt for this opportunity and hopes to continue to sing outside of the shower for many years to come. |
