Wendy Byrnes, as a student at Juneau Douglas High School, is just getting involved in the opera scene. From a musical family, she began playing the violin at the age of four, and was singing before she could talk. She sang her first solo at church when she was four years old, and made her bigger debut in the community singing in the Juneau Bach Society’s Fauré Requiem at age ten. She shortly thereafter performed with the Juneau Lyric Opera as The Youth in Mendelssohn’s Elijah.

She is involved in multiple choirs at school, and studies with Tiffany Hanson, and plays tuba in the JDHS Wind Ensemble. After graduation, Wendy hopes to further study music, and pursue a career in performance.
