Patricia Hull
Soprano

Patricia first studied music with her father, former Juneau music teacher and musician, Lawton “Chic” Hull. At JDHS, her conductor Bernie Hendricks’ mantra “the voice is a miraculous instrument” inspired her to continually develop different voices and dialects to serve diverse genres of music and the spoken word. Patricia’s first performance outside Alaska was at Carnegie Hall with America’s Youth In Concert (a national honor choir of representatives from the honor choirs of all 50 states) followed by a three-week European concert tour.

Patricia received her BFA from Bennington College and where her study of vocal and instrumental music, dance, theatre, and literature have afforded her a solid foundation as a performer. Since returning to Juneau in 1996, she has performed in lead and supporting roles, and in choruses with Perseverance Theatre, Theatre in the Rough, Opera to Go, Juneau Lyric Opera, the Juneau Symphony Chorus, and the Juneau Bach Society, among others. In 2005 and 2006, Patricia produced the country-western musical ALWAYS PATSY CLINE as a benefit for the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council and was thrilled when the Juneau Empire said her performance “channeled” the late country-western singer.

Last Spring, Patricia narrated Bruce Adolphe’s OCEONOPHONY at Juneau Jazz and Classics; in Fall 2007, she was the Soprano soloist for the Bach Society’s Mozart Vespers, and in April 2008, will test her Irish brogue in the dramatic role of MAUREEN in Thunder Mountain Theatre Project’s THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE. She regularly expands and enhances her skills by taking master classes and also explores disciplines outside her “comfort zone.” Recent forays into uncharted creative territories include drawing and painting, writing and performing original songs, and video. Her clay-animation short, RING TEST, was shown at New York City’s Musee de Monoian after its curator saw it at a screening at the Silverbow.

Formerly the Marketing Director for Perseverance Theatre, Patricia now volunteers to assist a number of arts organizations with marketing and publicity. She is a past board member of the Alaska Youth Choir, current board member of the Juneau Friends of the Library, and a Trustee of the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council.
