Janet Schempf
soprano

Janet Hall Schempf has performed on the Juneau High School Stage for over five decades, first as a flutist with Juneau School District bands and the Juneau Little Symphony (now known as the Juneau Symphony), and later as a dancer with local dance companies and dance schools, particularly Juneau Dance Unlimited.  While Janet has sung in church choirs most of her life, she did not seriously pursue singing until about five years ago.  Since then, Janet has studied with Dr. Byron McGilvray, Janis Capelle, Kathleen Wayne, William Todd Hunt, and Amanda Crider.  Highlights of the past five years include performances in Juneau, Sitka, and Carnegie Hall with Barney McClure, the Juneau Bach Society, Juneau Lyric Opera's Midwinter and Midsummer Festivals, Opera to Go!, the Juneau Symphony Chorus, and MidAmerica Productions.  Janet is delighted to be a part of Il Trittico and to share the experience with techie extrordinare, Hanna.  She sends a loving "Thank you" to Phil for keeping the logistics going at home and enabling her participation in this tremendous production.
